Tea Tree Bar Soap: Real Soap With Tea Tree Oil and Peppermint
Our tea tree bar soap is real soap made from coconut, olive and avocado oils, with tea tree oil and peppermint. Here is what is in every bar.
Some mornings you need a shower that wakes you up. Our tea tree bar soap is clean and sharp, with tea tree oil cooled by peppermint. It is real soap, made by hand in Kalamazoo, and here is what goes into every bar.
What is in our tea tree oil bar soap
Real soap starts with oils and lye. The FDA describes ordinary soap the same way: fats or oils combined with an alkali, such as lye 1.
Our bars start with coconut oil, olive oil and avocado oil, plus a little castor oil 2. The lye and oils turn into soap as the bar is made, which is why sodium hydroxide is on the label 2.
Ours is the real thing, with no synthetic detergents, no mineral oil and no petroleum 2. The scent comes from just two essential oils, tea tree and peppermint, and a little grapefruit seed extract finishes the list 2. Coconut oil gives the bar its big, bubbly lather, and olive oil makes it feel gentle.
How tea tree and peppermint smell together
Tea tree oil
An essential oil distilled from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, a small tree that grows in Australia. It smells clean, sharp and a little woodsy.
Paired with peppermint oil, it gives the bar its wake-up scent. They are the only two essential oils in it.
Peppermint adds the cool part. Lather up and you feel a light, fresh tingle, and the bathroom smells clean for a while after you are done.
If you like a brisk, minty shower, this is the bar for you. If you would rather have something softer, our lavender bar is the calmer pick. Both are lovely; it just depends on how you like to start your day.
Who it is for: early risers, runners and anyone who loves mint
Our tea tree bar is a favorite with people who want a shower that feels brisk: early risers, runners after a long run, and anyone coming home from a dirty job. Use it on your hands and body, and on tired feet at the end of the day. After a workout, a long hike or a day of yard work, it feels like a reset. It is also a good bar for the utility sink in the garage.
Tea tree is one of five bar soap scents we make, alongside Autumn Blend, Citrus, Lavender and Naked, which has no scent at all 2. Naked is the pick for anyone who wants real soap with no scent at all.
How to make a bar of soap last longer
A handmade bar likes to dry out between uses, so a good dish makes a real difference. Look after it, and one bar goes a long way. When you are down to a sliver, press it onto a new bar while both are wet, and nothing goes to waste.
