A bottle of hand sanitizer is handy until it leaks in your bag or gets lost under a car seat. That is why we fill single use hand sanitizer packets: one small, sealed packet of our lavender blend for one quick clean-up, wherever you are.

What a single use hand sanitizer packet is for

Think of a packet as the hand sanitizer you always have, because it takes up almost no room. It is flat, light and sealed, so it slips into places a bottle never fits.

We made them for the in-between moments of a busy day: after the grocery cart, at the soccer field, before a snack in the car, or at a rest stop on a long drive. Tear one open, use it, toss the wrapper, and you are done. There is no cap to lose and nothing to spill.

Because each one is sealed, a packet stays ready until you need it. That makes packets a good fit for the places you only visit now and then, like a camping box or the emergency kit in the trunk.

What is in our hand sanitizer blend

Some people search for "blended hand sanitizers," and that is a good way to describe ours. Our hand sanitizer blend is alcohol, vitamins, witch hazel and oils, scented with lavender. We made it so hands feel clean and soft afterward, not tight and stripped.

The packets hold the same lavender hand sanitizer we sell in a bottle. The bottle lives on a desk or by the door. The packets go everywhere else.

Ingredient

Witch hazel

A clear liquid made from the leaves and bark of the witch hazel shrub, a plant that grows wild in the woods of eastern North America, Michigan included. It has been part of skin care for generations because it feels fresh and light on the skin.

One of the four parts of our hand sanitizer blend, along with alcohol, vitamins and oils.

Then there is the scent. When the alcohol smell fades, which takes a few seconds, what stays on your hands is soft lavender. It is the same calming smell as our lavender soaps and lotions, so a packet in your bag feels like a little bit of home.

When soap and water is the better choice

Hand sanitizer is a helper, not a stand-in for the sink. The CDC's general advice is to pick a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, which the label will show, and to rub it over every part of both hands until they are dry, which takes about 20 seconds 1.

That is how we see our packets too. At home, the sink and a good pump of liquid soap come first. After gardening, fishing or a day at the campsite, look for soap and water. A packet is for the moments in between, when there is no sink nearby.

Packs of hand sanitizer for the whole family

You can buy our packets one at a time, or get packs of hand sanitizer in a pack of 40 2. A pack of 40 is enough to tuck a few into every bag, car and lunch box in the house, with some left over.

They also make easy little extras: a stocking stuffer, a teacher thank-you, a thank-you for a coach, or a welcome basket for a guest room.
