Hands that work all day and feet that stand all day deserve a little care at night. Our hand and foot balm is the jar we reach for after a long shift: rich shea and cocoa butter with a cool hit of peppermint. We like to call it a pedicure in a jar.

What is in our hand and foot balm

This is a thick, creamy balm, somewhere between a body butter and a hand and foot cream. The base is witch hazel water, avocado oil, castor oil, shea butter, coconut oil and cocoa butter 1.

Further down the list you will find jojoba oil, oat, silk amino acids, aloe, panthenol and vitamin E 1. It is vegan, with no mineral oil and no petroleum 1.

Ingredient

Peppermint oil

An essential oil distilled from the leaves of the peppermint plant. It smells sharp and clean, and it feels cool on the skin.

The only essential oil in our hand and foot balm, so the whole jar smells like fresh mint.

To keep the jar fresh, we use plant extracts of wasabi, ginger and garlic root, the same trio we use in our hair conditioner. Do not worry: all you smell is the mint.

How to use it on your feet: every night before bed

Our label has one simple tip: put it on every night before bed 1. The night is when your feet finally get to rest, so it is the best time to give them something rich. Your skin is not rushing off to pull on shoes or grab a pen, so the balm has hours to sink in.

Into the heels, before bed.

The peppermint is the part people talk about. After a day on your feet, that cool, tingly feeling is the best part of the evening.

It is not just for hands and feet, either. Elbows and knees that feel rough in winter like it too.

It works as a manicure lotion too

The same jar goes to work on your hands. After you trim and file your nails, rub a little into your cuticles and knuckles, and your hands look neat and feel soft.

It is also good after washing dishes, gardening or a day in the shop, when hands feel rough and tight.

After a home manicure, a little balm on the cuticles.

Because it is rich, a little goes a long way. Start with a small dab for both hands and add more only if you need it. Rub it in until it disappears, then give it a minute before you pick up your phone or a book.

Pick the size that fits your routine

We lovingly call this a "Pedicure In A Jar."

From our product page

The balm comes in two sizes: a regular 4 oz jar and an 8 oz bulk jar 1. The small jar fits a nightstand, a work locker or a gym bag. The big jar is for families who share, or for anyone who uses it every single night.

Questions

What is the difference between a hand and foot balm and a hand and foot cream?

A cream is usually lighter, with more water. A balm is thicker and richer. Ours sits in between: it has witch hazel water for a creamy feel, plus plenty of shea butter, cocoa butter and plant oils.

Can I use hand and foot balm as a manicure lotion?

Yes. After you trim and file your nails, rub a little into your cuticles and knuckles. Your hands look neat and feel soft.

How often should I use a foot balm?

We suggest every night before bed. Rub it into clean, dry feet, pull on cotton socks, and let it work while you sleep.

What does your hand and foot balm smell like?

Fresh mint. Peppermint oil is the only essential oil in it, and it feels cool on tired feet.
