Bulk Dish Soap: Real Citrus Dish Soap by the Refill or the 5 Gallon Pail
Bulk dish soap made from real soap and essential oils: a 64 oz refill, a 5 gallon pail, or our citrus dish soap bottle for the sink.
If your house goes through dish soap fast, buying one small bottle at a time gets old. Our bulk dish soap comes as a 64 ounce refill or a five gallon pail 13, and it is real soap, like our citrus dish soap bottle. Keep one bottle by the sink and fill it from the big one.
What is in our dish soap: real soap, not detergent
Our citrus dish soap starts with olive oil and coconut oil, made into soap with potassium hydroxide, the lye used for liquid soap 2. Then come glycerin, washing soda (sodium carbonate), sodium citrate and sodium hexametaphosphate, plus castor and avocado oils 2. The scent is orange, lemongrass and grapefruit essential oils 2.
It is tough on grease and dried-on food, and it leaves your hands soft 2. That last part matters when you are the one doing the dishes every night. Squeeze a little into a sink of warm water, and save the bigger squirt for a greasy pan.
Three ways to buy it: bottle, refill or pail
Start with a bottle of our citrus dish soap for the sink. When it runs low, top it up from our bulk refill, which holds 64 fluid ounces 1. Right now the refill comes in our Grapefruit Orchards scent 1.
For a big family, a restaurant, a church kitchen or a refill store, there is the five gallon pail: 640 fluid ounces, made to order and shipped sealed 3. Same soap, same scent family, just more of it at once.
A pail weighs about 49 pounds and ships on its own, in 5 to 7 business days 3. Pails come in a long list of scents, from Citrus and Lemongrass to Tea Tree, Rosemary and Naked, which has no scent 3. Anyone can buy a pail; you do not need a business 4. Refill stores, cleaning crews, offices and schools buy pails 4, and so do plenty of big families.
How to refill your dish soap bottle
Refilling takes about a minute. Rinse your empty bottle, let it drain, and pour from the refill slowly, so you do not get a head of bubbles at the top. A small kitchen funnel helps. Leave a little room at the top, and wipe the threads before you put the pump back on.
Keep the refill under the sink with the cap on tight, and your sink bottle is never empty for long. If you buy a pail, fill a smaller jug or two from it first, then fill your sink bottle from the jug.
Less plastic under the sink
Refilling one bottle again and again means fewer empty bottles in the bin. Our pail dish soap is biodegradable 3, and you can even send clean, empty pails back to us and we pay you back for each one 4. It is the same idea as a refill store, right in your own kitchen.
